10 Months

Our sweet little angel is 10 months old today!  I can't believe in two months he will be 1 year old!

Mason is such a sweet little boy!  He waves hello and good bye and claps on cue.  He is walking all over the house with his walker and when he runs into a wall, he keeps pushing like somehow he will be able to move the wall.  It's so adorable.  He is definitely more independent now.  He doesn't like for anyone to hold his bottle, and he always wants to be on the floor (so he can get into everything!).

This past week I have noticed also that he has "attitude" when I take away something he shouldn't be playing with, like my cell phone.  He used to not care and would move on the next toy, but oh no, he is definitely putting up a fight these days...by screaming at the top of his lungs.  I am hoping this phase passes soon.

He still isn't back to eating his normal solids.  To make a long story short, he had low iron levels so the nurse told me to give him iron with his food.  BAD IDEA.  Now he associates yucky taste with his solids...but we were doing as the nurse told us.  We had to take Mason to the Dr. for yet another ear infection and the Dr. said that we should have never given him iron in his food.  To put it mildly, I was SO mad!  The Dr. and the nurse should have been on the same page!!  He used to be the best eater, and he would eat anything I would put in front of him.  Now, it's takes us holding his hands down so we can even get the spoon in his mouth so he knows it's not yucky iron.  I have made the executive decision as his mom to stop giving him iron...he needs to eat solids again and enjoy them!  So needless to say, his progression into eating table food has not been going well at all.  We hope this month we will see great improvement.

Mason adores his daycare and is moving up to the next classroom where his best friend Abby is.  Although we are sad that he is leaving such great teachers, we are excited that he will be advancing and learning new things in his next classroom.  Mason loves his Rovie dog more than anything, and squeals with delight anytime Rovie is around.  He also still loves doing anything outside related, so we spend a lot of time in the nature, especially watching daddy work on the yard! :-)

On a side note, I am planning his first birthday party.  I can't believe how fast this is all going...I am not ready for him to go to college yet....

Nine Months

Our dear Mason is nine months already.  I can't believe it has gone this fast.  He is getting SO big.  This month I feel like he grew and grew and grew!

At his 9 month check up he is in the 30th percentile of weight and in the 65th percentile for length and head circumference.  He had a great check up, besides his iron levels being a bit low.  He now takes vitamins, so we will see if that helps.  We are also supposed to start giving him some table food, so that should be fun!
This month has been fun to say the least.  He crawls around the house and gets into everything!  We seriously cannot take our eyes off of him, not even for one second!!  The other day he took off the white cap off of the door stopper, and almost gave me a heart attack!  It seems no matter hard I try, he always finds something that he shouldn't!  His favorite thing to do is to stand up by the back door and beat on the window until Rover comes and barks at him.  Man, he LOVES that dog!
Mason is clapping, waving "bye bye" and "hi" (sometimes), dancing, and he is pulling up on everything and standing!  We don't get to sit and relax, not even for one minute, because we are chasing him around like crazy, but I wouldn't change it for anything.  Our living room is open, so we really can't block him off from going to the kitchen, so we are always busy to say the least.
His daycare was closed for spring break, so he went and spent 3 nights at his Mimi and Popo's house.  This was rough.....on me....not him!  I cried the whole day we dropped him off.  I thought he was not going to do well, but he surprised me.  He slept through the night and ate like a champ, and just watched his cousin most of the day.  He was such a big boy and I am so proud of him.  I thought when we picked him up on Wednesday he was going to be excited though...not so much.  He was just a big crab!  I think this was was due to him being outside for 5 hours in a row, so he was just super super tired.  After we took him home and he got a lot of sleep, he was back to his happy self by Thursday afternoon.  I took off Thursday and Friday, so we got to spend some quality time together.  We played, took Rovie on walks, and we napped together.  Speaking of napping, it sure would be nice to take one right now...ugh!  And now that I am back at work, I really really miss him today, but I know he is having fun at daycare playing with his friends and teachers.  I am still counting down the minutes though until I get to pick him up....
I'll post some more pictures later!  Happy nine months tootie fruitie!

Great at Eight

Mason is eight months old today!  What a little turkey this boy is :-)

Mason loves:
Rover
bathtub penguin
to be held
bouncy balls
Mommy's cel phone
Daddy's cel phone
remotes
Abby at daycare
taking baths
outside anything
apple sauce
peek a boo
books
Ms. Rosa at daycare
saying dadadadada

Mason dislikes:
when mommy and daddy leave the room
taking naps
wiping his nose
taking medicine

We have really enjoyed this month.  He is at such a fun age now.  He is getting into everything, and I mean everything.  It feels like we have to have eyes in the back of our head now.  He is "talking" up a storm.  He says dadadadada, and mamama.... it's beyond cute!
Still no teeth!  I feel like this boy has been teething forever!  The other day I caught him chewing on our kitchen table, so I am thinking the teeth will cut soon, but who knows!
This month he got two ear infections.  Poor little boy.  The second infection didn't agree with him.  First he was fussy from his double ear infection, and then the fussiness didn't stop.  He was not himself at all, and day care said he was like a different baby.  We took him to the Dr. again (twice in one week) to see what was going on.  His ear infection cleared up, but we think his meds were hurting his tummy.  Once we stopped giving him the medicine he was back to himself.  Thank the LORD!
Mason has also been waking up night more :-(  We have caught him stuck- I guess trying to escape.  Needless to say, we lowered his crib and took out the bumper.  Now he enjoys putting his arms and legs through the slats.  We are thinking of getting a crib tent, not sure though.
Mason had his first Valentine's Day.  It was ok- we spent it at the dr., but at least we were together.
I think that sums up everything.  Until next time, here are some photos.

7 months!

Mason is 7 months old today.  What a sweet little boy he is.  We love him so much!

Luckily, no shots at 7 months...yay.  Well....I take that back...he does have to get his second flu shot, but at least there won't be more than that!

Poor Mason is teething, and I mean teething!  He has had fever for a week, is drooling tons, and is fussy fussy.  Eating is also a battle with him, which makes me sad.  When we get a glimpse into his mouth, we see a tiny tiny white dot.  Well, Mr. WHITE DOT, poke on through, because you are hurting my baby boy and you are making mommy and daddy go crazy!!  We have had to take him out of school twice now for his fever.  Poor little boy!!!  He also has his second ear infection, so currently he feels all around yucky.

I say this every month, but what a developmental month!  He is saying da da and ba ba.  And he says it so cute and soft, and sometimes under his breath.  What a doll!  He is rolling both ways finally- the Dr. assured me this was normal, babies do things at all different ages.  He is sitting up like a pro- rarely tumbling over.  He is eating solids about 2-3 times daily, really loving everything we give him.  His favorite is still apple sauce though- but this doesn't surprise me, I LOVE apple sauce.  He is really enjoying playing with his toys and grabbing at anything and everything (and then putting it in his mouth).  He even laughs sometimes after he toots.  Silly boy!

He also had his first Christmas!  He got tons of presents, but like most kiddos, loved the paper more!  He was spoiled rotten by the time the holidays were over, thanks to the fam holding him the whole time.  New Years wasn't eventful- went to bed early, and that was that.

What a blessing this baby is!  We are so thankful that we were chosen to be his parents.

Mason loves his cousin!  They were both dressed as turtles that day! :-)

This is his 6 month picture, but it's so darn cute!

6 month LONG overdue post

Well Mason is almost 7 months old, but I guess it's never too late to post about his 6th month!

What a developmental month, this kid is Mr. Social!  He loves to be entertained always and is still "talking" up a storm.  He still LOVES to watch Rover, and his current favorite thing is to stick anything and everything in his mouth.  I think he is teething really bad also, because he has been a bit more fussier than normal.

He is in the 25th percentile in weight and 50% in head circumfrence and length.  The dr. was a bit suprised that he wasn't over 17 lbs. yet, but I think that was mainly due him having a bad cough/cold for a week and half.  The poor boy just didn't want to eat.  He got his 6 months shots, and besides his second flu shot, he should be clear until he turns one year old.  Yay for Mason and yay for Mommy and Daddy!

He is now eating solids like a champ!  He currently eats oatmeal cereal, apple sauce, pears, bannanas, carrots and prunes.  He LOVES to eat!
Here is a picture of him on Thanksgiving (even though his Mimi already decorated for Christmas :-) )

Here is picture of him not liking Santa.
Mason being a cutie!
Until next time...

5 months!

Mr. Mason is officially 5 months old.  Where does the time fly?

This month has been the most developmental by far!!!  Mason has become more social, he is always talking.  He also has "filled out"!  He has thunder thighs and cheeks so fluffy!  Adorable!  He is grabbing at things and playing away!  He also had his first roll finally...and then didn't do it again for three weeks!!  Maybe it's because I screamed so loud when he first did it.  There is nothing Mason hates more than tummy time....we basically have to leave him on his tummy and listen to him cry for 10 minutes while he practices being on his tummy.  It is so hard to listen to your baby cry, but he really has to do it.  So this weekend I prepared for the crying...but all of sudden he rolled.  I was like, okay...so maybe one roll a week?  Um no, this child hasn't stopped.  I put him on his tummy and he immediately rolls over.  I guess he finally figured out how to not do so much tummy time! He also can sit up with a little bit of help.
In other news, Mason started drinking rice cereal in his bottle.  Last week we tried to feed it to him with a spoon, but he is not a fan to say the least.  He acts like I am feeding him liver when I try to put a spoon in his mouth!  His facial expression is priceless to say the least.  This picture I think was when we put the bowl away! :-)

Another "big" events this month was his first Halloween.  Of course he was a giraffe.  His favorite animal by far....or Mommy's at least! :-)  He was a bit irritated at his costume because it was hot, but he was still cute none the less.  His brother-cousin came to trick or treat at our house- he was an adorable fireman.

Mason went to his first birthday party- his cousin turned 3!  He got all dressed up.

Last week Mason's daycare had a Thanksgiving program.  Mason was a pumpkin.  He was mesmorized by all the people.

Mason is 4 months old

"Toots" as we like to call him turned 4 months old this Tuesday.  What a big boy he is.  We went to the dr. yesterday, and it was good news on his weight! :-)  He is in the 50th percentile for weight, 50th for head circumfrence, and 75th for length.  He is a long little boy for sure.  Poor baby cried for only about 2 minutes after he got his shots and then fell asleep.  I definitely think it's harder on me than on him.  The dr. was very pleased with his growth.  We had to confess that we switched to soy....she was against it, but she was pleased that he is doing better.  She also said we can start to add a bit of rice ceral to his bottles to thicken them so he doesn't spit up as much.  She said he probably isn't ready to eat solids quite just yet, but that when we are ready, we can gradually introduce rice cereal in a bowl and see what happens.
Meanwhile, he sure is "talking" up a storm.  ALL he does now is vibrate his lips (I wish I could describe it better)!  Even when he is upset he does that.  Needless to say Shawn and I have stopped doing that to him, we sure don't want him to think that is normal conversation...ha ha!  I keep singing to him "ma ma da da rovie", let's hope one of those will stick!  He still isn't rolling over quite yet, but he is sure trying.  And who would have thought that feet could be SO interesting!  I would have to say that his feet are his favorite "toy" right now!  He is drooling up a storm too, and of course everything goes in his mouth.  We really have to watch out for that now.  Mason still loves to be outside and to watch his big brother chase his ball.  He loves for us to read to him and of course to hold him.  His favorite part of the day is still bath time so he can splish splash!  He also still loves daycare.  But when I pick him up and he recognizes me and smiles so big, it truly melts my heart!  He better love his Mommy!
